It's a little bittersweet to think that after all we've been through together, all the teaching, the debating, the tears and anger and hard work, Cedric will be leaving us.
He brought us donuts and we spent the better part of an hour just chatting about things. Like how Green road went National and took the Champion, how most people still don't know that we who live in Sarawak live in trees. :D and donuts.
Cornelius and Joshua seemed to be pretty interested in my rat.
It seems like just yesterday I was frantically sms'ing all the debaters and trying my best to set up meetings. It's scary to think that from now on, we're on our own. We'll have to lead and we'll have to teach.
As a farewell, we have a gag debate: This house would negotiate with terrorists.
Fifteen minutes prep time, five minute speeches and a three minute reply. POI time starts 30 seconds after a speech is started and ends 30 seconds before. There was a little hullabaloo over who was Gov and Opp but we figured it out in the end.
Gov: Faris, Aldrin and Joshua.
Opp: Adam, Me and Nealdy.
Faris comes up and starts. We make him start interschool style with the lengthy greeting. It seems to be going rather seriously until Cedric claps and Adam immediately POI's
"Exactly what are you going to do?" He says before Faris can do anything. And that signals the starting of the gags.
The Gov is obviously trying to keep this a serious debate but we the opp go up and provide our alt policy:
This House Would NOT negotiate with Terrorists. Instead, we would send young girls and or boys to seduce the terrorists.
The debate somehow went down like this
Less Bloodshed VS Young girls and boys.
More Civilised VS Make Love not War
Less Risk VS Just give them what they want.
Based on the points, the Gov definitely won
But humour wise, the Opp took the cake.
